I can see 3 people holding hands worse than ours on this board, but I think we're behind a bigger full house here. That being said 4/8 live players are idiots. You could easily be against a couple of straights and/or flushes. I would probably cap it but it would depend on the player that raised and the player that 3-bet. Even without reads, if the raiser or 3-bettor fits one of the weak-tight stereotypes I might be able to find a fold. With no reads I'm going to cap it.

Cappucino!!! (spelled right?) Assume opponent is bad until proven otherwise.

This is right up there with "raise or fold" in the "dumbest mantra in this forum" contest.

Yeah, but it's pretty close to correct. I guess the bottom line is at this limit it is pretty easy to size up most players quickly.

Could you explain why this is dumb? I would really like to understand what was silly about this statement so I can adjust my views of the game. Thanks in advance.
I based this on a small stakes recommendations of DSkl and MM books.

2+2ers have to start somewhere. yes many play 4/8, as do many aspiring TAGs.

though i prob was a fish compared to people in this forum a year ago.

I don't think it is dumb, extreme maybe. There are good player that play at lower limits. If not we are all a bunch of idiots talking to each other here. On the whole I think that <u>most</u> small stakes players are average or below. I usually find that I can figure out if they are bad within a couple of orbits. If they are tight it takes a little longer.

There is a huge huge difference between saying:

"I assume that most of my opponents don't play poker that well because low limit live games are usually not populated by good TAGs"

and

"I assume my opponents are all retarded and don't know how to read a board and will raise and threebet the river with hands that are super super obviously beat"

Maybe what I should have said was "mottos most likely to justify wrongheaded decisions" because that's really what I meant. I still maintain that against three opponents showing this much strength there's no way you're a favorite without reads. The only argument I see for 4betting is if 4betting is a cap and you think there's a chance this doesn't go to 4 bets if you're good, but that it will always go to 4 bets if you're beat and you won't fold to the 4bet. In that case you might cap so that it's always 4 bets rather than 4 bets when you lose and 3 bets when you win. Equity cap, not a chance.

I ended up capping it because I figured if I have the best hand, I might as well make the most $$$ out of it and since I can't fold it, it would only cost 1 extra bet.

One guy had a straight, one guy a flush, one guy had trips (LOL!), and one guy had a higher boat. Oh well. It took the SOB 10 mins. to stack his money.
