Default Cable movie descriptions.

I was flipping through channels a little bit ago, and I see that on USA there's a movie called "The Poseidon Adventure". I've never heard of it so I clicked on it to read the description of what the movie is. This is what it says...

"Adam Baldwin, Steve Guttenberg, (2005), In this remake of the far superior 1972 film of the same name....."

WTF? Who writes these captions? And how can they get away with openly bashing the movie that they should be trying to convince me to watch? Does USA write their own things? Or is it mediacom (my cable company) that does this?

i have time warner cable and i get such descriptions ALL the time. about 1/5th of movie blurbs are not even descriptive just 'this movie is filth, but it features a young robert redford' well not that bad, but you get the idea.

i am pretty sure its just some kid who gets paid 15$ an hour writing these things up. most movies are rated 1-4 stars too, some of the ratings are pretty nuts but i can't recall a particular example.

I work at a cable company, but for the internet division, so I'm not 100% on this, but as far as I know, those descriptions come from our Digital Service, in-demand (www.indemand.com) I know for a fact that nobody in this company writes them, so it's either from indemand or from the network itself.

That's all I have to say about that.

I like when I want to know who is going to be on "The Daily Show" etc. and it gives me "A hip, irreverent skewering of the days news" Oh gee thanks.

Or for Sportscenter- "emmy winning clips shows"

I think it is just the first few lines from a review. They probably only use on source.
