Should I get 3 streets of value or is this a good place to check behind for pot control / getting paid by Qx or even Jx on the river.

Against lags I tend to milk them for 3 streets and not regret it if they show me a better hand. IMO a player like this is likely enough to call down with a J

I still prefer betting 40 on the turn there, the villian could have nothing, a weaker Q, a J, or an openended draw and i would hate letting him draw for free.
Of course the bet on the turn opens you up to the check raise, but until I have seen an opponent is tricky, I prefer to play bet,bet,bet.
