I'm never going on the internet.

text message
phone
look cool.

That's it. I was like 2 clicks away from an 8820 but I'll give the Curve a second look.

The 8820 had GPS which seemed really, REALLY neat.

Well, the Curve has GPS and it's $50 cheaper or something so I have my eyes set on it. It's very slightly thicker than the 8820, however it is smaller in LxW. Unfortunately that means a smaller screen, but eh.

http://www.sizeasy.com/

Really neat website for comparing the dimensions of objects, really well implemented. Can't believe I've never heard of it.

The Curve is basically the exact size of a 5G iPod it seems, while the 8820 is thinner larger.(more "smooshed")

It seems that the 8310 will fit better in my pockets, which is huge. Thanks for the help guys, I thought this was a dead thread!

If down to those two I'd just got to a store and see which feels better/fits better. Either way you cant really go wrong though IMO.

Yeah. I'm gonna check out the 8820. If it feels okay I'm getting it because I guess the battery life for the 8310 is HORRIBLE.

This isn't a stupid question*

I'm only going to add the GPS and unlimited text to the basic 450 plan. Can I still connect via wi-fi free of charge?

*How the hell do they charge for voice dialing.

If size is an issue I say check out the Blackberry Pearl. It has a modified QWERTY keyboard- once you get used to it though it's fantastic.

I used to have a Pearl before my Curve. I prefer the Curve quite a bit-- the full keyboard is much nicer, even after using the Pearl for a while and getting accustomed to it. And while the Curve is not "smaller", it is actually more lightweight.

Slight hijack-

I just got a Nokia N75 (3g, etc) and absolutely hate it. Drops calls, randomly powers down and you have to pull the battery out, and occasionally won't boot up at all.

Looking to return it and replace it with something reliable, good battery life, and preferably small. Should be durable and be solid feeling.

Any suggestions? I looked at the sony erricsons, but I'm not a big fan of the sliding-style. Plus, I have a 2gb microsd card which won't work with their gay proprietary memory card format.

The only features I'd ever use would be calling and text messages. GPS/maps would be sweet as well, but not if I have to pay monthly for it.

Short bump -

Do all of these qwerty-type phone require data plans? I'd love to have something like the blackjack.

Right now I'm paying 39.99/mo + 4.99 for 200 text messages, and really don't want to increase the monthly rate at all.
