Default Fun w/ K8o

Commerce 40-80. 2nd hand at table.

UTG is a 30ish white guy who thinks he's good but open limps in LP, CCs in EP w/ KJo, etc. BB I haven't played against before, but he's Asian and looks like the over-tricky type.

Preflop:
UTG limps, two others limp, The Dude completes in the SB w/ K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. BB checks.

Flop: (5 SBs) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 Players)
The Dude bets, BB raises, UTG calls. Others fold, The Dude 3bets. BB calls, UTG caps. We both call.

Turn: (8.5 BBs) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
The Dude bets, planning on calling a raise from BB but folding if UTG raises.

Looks good on flop. On the turn you captured my exact thoughts

can't you just c/f if utg bets/raises the turn and c/c if bb bets and utg calls?

I know this is heresy, but fold PF. 1st to act, 3 players elected to enter pot, and you have unsuited, King high. Reverse implied odds cause you to lose dollars.

So, your read is BB has A3os or 66 and UTG has the flush draw? In this poker age the flush draw won't take a free card anyway so just check and call 1 bet to hit your questionable 5 outer. You're quite possibly sunk by UTG's set on the flop. If river is bet, a call burns money, but is fairly typical.

Wow, strange analysis...

A3o is your (glorfindel) read on BB? A set is your read on utg? hmmmm.....

What kind of hand (utg) cold-calls two on flop, then goes ahead and caps just for sh*ts and giggles? QJh? A2h, A5h? no, that wouldn't happen....?

What kind of hand raises a flop donk to gain position and freeze-out hands later to act? Flush draws, combo draws, sure... But usually any vulnerable pair, j8o type hands, pretty wide range...

For what it's worth, lets say you limp utg with 33, flop middle set, and sb leads, bb raises. If i knew sb wanted to b/3bet, and i was pretty damn sure of that, cold-calling 2 / wrapping around for 4 would be a pretty sick line. How often would this line be taken with a set? ....o/u of 10%? I'd take the under...

utg has a flush draw, quite likely.

I dont like the flop 3-bet, I would just start calling. maybe fold if it gets ugly (e.g. overcalling the river would qualify as ugly).

flush draw or set. A better one pair would've 3bet. That's why the dude bets the turn: he is pretty sure he's ahead of BB often enough but doesn't want to get free-carded by UTG.

An alternate line may be to call flop / donk turn. How does that affect your interpretation of the other players' actions on the turn?

Apparently, I am Mr. Weak-Tight.

I fold PF. Play flop same way. Check turn planning to fold if action is check-bet-raise or check-check-bet.

I like chekcing the flop here w/the intention of c/r'ing a late position bettor but I don't think betting is wrong

I'd rather call the utg raise and donk a safe turn (non A non heart) than 3 bet the flop.

As played I'd fold to a raise from either BB or UTG but I'd rather just check and let the action develop
