Default Vegas and Thanksgiving

Only been to Vegas in off times (i.e. middle of September, April). How busy does it get on Thanksgiving?

Mandalay Bay has labeled Wednesday-Sunday as a "blackout" period. The dealers don't get their normal days off and they're not allowed to call in sick on those days.

I was watching one of those Vegas shows on the Travel channel recently where they said it used to be pretty empty (relatively speaking), but has since become very busy.

I know, not much help. I'll be there this weekend so I can give a trip report when I get back.

I can tell you there'll be a lot of Asians there (as is the case with a lot of holidays).

I'll be there from Fri. 23rd to Wed. 28th. Some kind of Magoofest, drunk 2-4 game or a cheap mixed game (at TI?) sounds like just the thing to blow off some steam. Count me in if there is sufficient interest. Won't be able to check PM's after tomorrow so if anybody needs my cell number to contact me if things come together just let me know. Happy Thanksgiving.

To answer the OP's question - Thanksgiving is generally a down time in Vegas. It won't be absolutely dead, but it's not one of their busier times. From now untill New Year's is generally an "off" time. Cheers!

I've been in Vegas for the last two thanksgivings. While I'm not going this year, the past two years it's been extremely crowded with much more of a family crowd, mostly commuting in from SoCal...poker rooms have also been busy for the most part in my experience.

Just my .02
