wow anchor steam, red hook, red stripe? wtfffff

those are all 11-15 a 12 pack. red stripe is OKAY if you don't mind malty nastiness.

blue moon is good. if you're willing to spend that on a 12 pack, which you have to be for good beer.. you should just buy whatever micro brew is around. sierra nevada is good.

in PA don't you have some stupid ass rule where you can't buy 6 packs in the store? you have to buy either 24 packs or 6 packs from a bar for 12 bucks? if that is true then you have to buy [censored] beer or just get whatever the bartender recommends. you're basically sol

QFT about the summer ale. I am of the complete opposite opinion regarding the Oktoberfest and the Winter ale.

Go Canadian.
Good alcohol content. Generally easy drinking. Not expensive.

RDH- nice post.

For lower-tier inexpensive beer there's nothing better than Red Dog IMO. 12-pk bottles run you in the ballpark of $6.99 and the product tastes about as good as Budweiser if not better.

For mid-range I like many New Belgium products, Anchor Steam, Shiner Bock, the white beer Hoegaarden (Blue Moon), and Negra Modelo, these will run you avg. $6.99-8.99 for a 6-pk.

Pretty much avoid Heineken at all costs unless you're getting it for free or drinking it in Holland. Once you've had the superior Euro-Heineken it's basically impossible to drink it in the States.

Red Hook is exactly what you're looking for.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is an excellent answer. They used to be very hard to find outside of the Pac NW but are now pretty common across the US. Some people who don't like beer find the taste of Red Hook too strong though.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Pyramid Hefeweizen are also very common and decent.

Another option is the more common decent imports. (not Heineken) something like Stella, or a lot of places now have one of the Czech beers or Kronenbourg 1664, or Franziskaner. All of the those are pretty light and tasty.
