for all the non-americans talking about how crazy this story sounds, it is a pretty extreme example. i've been to countless house parties where the police have showed up, many of them were the people drinking are underage. i have never seen a cop break a door down to get into the party. However, I have never been at a party where the people inside just try and sit tight waco style. generally, it's best to just go out and talk to them. they don't want people driving drunk, that's the main concern.

I've been to numerous parties that have gotten broken up by police, and they then force everyone to DRIVE and leave the party.

Police breaking up parties in my opinion leads to MORE drunken driving. (Don't have time to sober up, or time to find sober driver, etc.) But I'm sure the state loves that since it just means more revenue for them!
