Default alright, a river range question of sorts

online 50/1. running mostly 4 handed at the time.

UTG folds, I open {something} from the button, sb folds bb calls.

bb here is someone I don't recognize, thus far seems to play ok but I'm obv not 100% on that. He's playin someone hu elsewhere that indicates that game selection may not be his forte.

anyways, onto the flop. T87 2 hearts, I think T&7. He checks and I decide to check behind.

Turn 3h, he bets, I raise, he 3 towns and I capped.

River 4x, he bets. What minimum hand do I need here to raise, and what kinda range can we put him on at this point?

If you don't have a flush you shouldn't raise.

Why did you check the flop?

I wouldn't raise anything smaller than a Q-hi flush.

I would raise any flush and call a 3 bet or cap. I wouldn't raise a set of 3s. I wouldn't really have many hands here so its tough to say. I give him flopped joint, any flush, any set, discounted two pairs, and maybe AA.

yeah I know checking here is weird, good job nailing my hand in the response already. My hand looks pretty big or bluffy here unless I have like an 83o or something.

is J9 a raise on the river?

kind of a silly question bc u would have to really suck to have j9

jc9c is a lot weaker than 4h2h bc having j9 doesnt limit the flush combos any but it does limit the straight and combo hands a little. the straight prob has like 5-7% less equity.

also ur hand doesnt neccessarily look like a monster or air. ppl make retarded raise/caps freeshowdown all the time so he could be betting like t9 once in a while

I figured in combo with the flop check my hand isn't real likely to be one pair, if he's aware of this his bet range has to be kinda different too yeah?
