I was inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it makes too much sense now.

Has anyone asked stars about this yet? If it's true that they finally busted a giant bot-ring that has been plaguing their plo games for years, you'd think they'd have some kind of obligation to inform their players.

I've never once heard about a poker site admitting to catching bots. Usually they sweep it under the carpet.

Go to destroythebots.com. Links to interesting threads about HU LHE bots. Apparently, 40% of the HU LHE hands played at 30-60, 50-100 and 100-200 level on FTP were played by bots. Furthermore, these bots were winning players. TheBryce, who is apparently the biggest winner in these games (and didn't think they were bots) wouldn't play some of the bots because he believed his edge was marginal. After investigation, FullTilt banned several botters and confiscated all of their funds. There's even a thread in BBV where a first-time poster tries to rally 2p2 to his cause because he was 'falsely accused' of botting and FTP seized his $70k BR. He posts e-mails from FTP to him. Its pretty nuts.

Also, I'd guess that a decent 20bb PLO bot would be easy to program as it would require only minimal opponent modelling. It's pretty much impossible that there AREN'T at least some shortstack PLO bots beating medium stakes games. There are definitely way more bots in all forms of poker than most people think, although thankfully the vast majority of these are incapable of beating even the softest microstakes games.
