\"Dude, this is 5/10.\"
First time playing in awhile. 5/10 live in Detroit.
Short read on CO, but he seems slightly loose/average. BB is known and tight. 9 handed. I open with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in MP. CO calls. BB calls. Flop(6 sb/3 players): Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Check, hero bets, CO calls, BB folds. Turn(4 bb/heads up): A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Hero bets, CO calls. River(6 bb/heads up): J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero bets... Rate it? |

I agree with Nigel on this one. Five overs to yours, a paired board, your'e OOP and he is calling you all the way.

Re: \"Dude, this is 5/10.\"
Why are we raising preflop?
Why are we betting all the other streets? We don't have anything resembling a hand. Lol@Spinal.Tap |

Re: \"Dude, this is 5/10.\"
preflop is a little loose. way too loose if the rake in detroit is $5/flop or whatever.
giving up on the flop is certainly an option on this board, but once you bet flop and get one caller i think you have to bet the ace turn. |

Re: \"Dude, this is 5/10.\"
PF is a bit loose for me, that river card is particularly nasty cause JT/KT/KJ just got there as well. I wouldn't bother with betting the river there I think we're getting called a lot.
I'm unsure of turn bluff atm. (prolly ok) |

Re: \"Dude, this is 5/10.\"
I'm just a clueless noob, but why raise this preflop? I know there's got to be a cutoff line somewhere but for me this is way below it. Aren't you putting yourself in a situation where you have to lead any flop and probably any turn in order to bluff your way to a win here when you whiff? And with so many possible overcards to come, anyone who hits one is calling you down. I dunno, maybe this table is a lot tighter than mine and limping first in in MP is bad; but at my table I'd just limp, get at least 4 callers behind me and the hand plays itself from there.

OP, was it your intention in playing a hand like this the way you did so wou would be sure to get plenty of action later on in the session?
Derek Smalls wouldn't play like this |

Derek Smalls wouldn't play like this [/ QUOTE ] I also drank from the cup. In Detroit. Greatest trophy in sport. In live games in Detroit I have a hard time hiding how tight I play. And as you know it usually does not take much to play tighter than most at the table. And it probably does not help that I usually muck very quickly preflop. I also keep quiet during hands my neighbors are playing out of respect. I found on this trip that I had to try very hard to look interested in all the little comments/jokes/table talk about the game. I guess it just isn't as fun as it used to be for me? So I felt like jumping in a little here. It was also a new game that had just been started so it was likely the texture would not change for some time. meh. |
