[ QUOTE ]
this pick could totally end up being #2 with how bad the niners are. they may not win another game and if someone ties with them they have an easy schedule, so they'd get the pick.

what do you think the #2 pick would go for with the pats' front office doing the negotiating? or, more interestingly, if you really like one of the available DE's, do you go for him there?

[/ QUOTE ]

Are there any Merriman/Ware type players in this draft who would justify a pick that high?

[ QUOTE ]
I'd say u guys keeping Moss is 50/50 at best esp if u guys go undefeated and or win SB. This is mainly due to the fact that I assume NE won't offer him a good contract...they'll try to get him at a drastically reduced rate.

The whole legacy/happy blah blah blah is great if NE offers him a solid contract compared to what other teams will offer. But if they do their usual hardball then I see Moss signing his last NFL contract elsewhere.

Losing Moss would be a massive hit to your passing attack. He can't be replaced.

[/ QUOTE ]

There is almost no way the Patriots will lose Moss. You forget Moss took a 7 mil PAYCUT in his contract to come here. He has said many times he does not need more money, he is already rich etc. and just wants to win. This was all BEFORE the season, which has gone much better than expected and you can be guarenteed Moss likes it a lot more here than when he first accepted the paycut.

The only chance that Moss leaves is if there is some drastic falling out between him and the Patriots which is highly doubtful or if another winning team like the Colts/Packers offers him like 10-15 mil per year and even then I expect him to take a paycut and stay here because he loves it so much. Excpect Moss to be re-signed to like a 3-4 year contract worth like 4-6 mil per year.

you are saying moss is going to come here, have a career year, and then sign a multi-year deal at basically the same money, or even ANOTHER pay cut?

lol

i am optimistic he gives them a discount and signs for like 4/28, more likely something like 3/25.

He has said many times he does not care about the money and only wants to win so yes I would not be surprised in the least bit.

Players and their agents often say things along those lines when they are not being offered monstrous contracts from other teams. The reason i think Moss might be different is because of the Oakland disaster. They are still going to have to pay him 7-10ish per year but I think that he might turn down better offers to stay with Brady and the Pats.

Maybe so, worst comes to worst I have no doubt in mind that the Pats will pony up and pay Moss and if they have to let Samuel go in order to keep Moss they will do it in a heartbeat.

Every athlete I have ever heard has said that they don't care about the money. I would guess that 90% of them would trade a winless season for a doubled salary, and I wouldn't really blame them.

Moss will be back, if anything Patriots fans should be worried about the offensive line but it's fairly likely that they'll find decent linemen even if the current ones get overpaid by someone else.

i thought the majority of these guys were locked up? if not, expect the pats to draft some great linemen, they won't let anybody near brady.
