Rumor Horse is coming to Casino Argosy (near Cincy FYI)
The O/8 game broke early tonight [11 PM]and I was talking to one of the dealers as I was racking up, lol yes I still had chips, and he said they were working on spreading HORSE. He didn't know the limits and the dealers hadn't been trained on the games so he felt it would be a while.

That would be fun. If it's low stakes, I'd give it a try. I wouldn't expect to have chips left, though
I've never headed up that way -- I always go to Caesars because I'm comfortable there. Might have to make a trip to the other nearby casinos one of these days. BTW, we'll be headed to Caesars the first weekend in Nov. I'll look for the hat |

Re: Rumor Horse is coming to Casino Argosy (near Cincy FYI)
It goes every Wednesday, usually around 4 PM. $5/10 with a full kill. A group is planning to play Friday at Belterra. $3-6 with a full kill.
The O/8 went Friday night at Argosy which is unusual. I wasn't there but heard about it last night. What is a good stucture for a limit HORSE game? |

Re: Rumor Horse is coming to Casino Argosy (near Cincy FYI)
If the normal O8 game is 5/10, I'd say that limit. Stud games with a $1 ante and $2 bring sounds about right - would also be reasonably easy to play in terms of chips.
I wouldn't start with a kill, but would introduce it once the game is established. FWIW, when I've played rotation games with a kill, the kill would extend that particular game until the kill conditions were not met, then it would switch over. That's a complication that would probably cause confusion/arguments when you need to worry about getting the game stable over the long-term. |

Most 5/10 stud games in a live casino only have a 50 cent ante (the ones in Atlantic City definately have that structure).

True. I think Foxwoods 5/10 stud has a $1 ante, not sure though.

The structure for my 5-10 HOSE stud games are:
$1 ante, $2 bring in, 5 completion. No kill, no jackpot, double bet on paired door card in stud but not stud 8. |

The structure for my 5-10 HOSE stud games are: $1 ante, $2 bring in, 5 completion. No kill, no jackpot, double bet on paired door card in stud but not stud 8. [/ QUOTE ] this is a good structure. It provides 1:5 small bet to ante ratio, the pot is 1.9 small bets after the bring in, the pot lays 7.3:1 if anyone limps in without completing, 2.91: if a player open-completes, and the bring in is being laid 4.3:1 vs a potential ante steal. I like it a lot, the game has a lot of play for the expert. If you play too tight your making a mistake, if you play too loose your making a mistake, but there is a mathematically optimal balance. |
