Default 10/20 stud: Simple hand

Tempting to try to push this guy around, but a fold is prudent? I'm not very comfortable in these situations.

Reads at time of hand:
7 seat seems a bit laggy, REALLY bad at some of the other games but haven't yet seen him do anything horrible at Stud high. I suspect from his screenname that he is primarily a stud game player of some sort.
4 seat is decent.

HORSE - 7 Card Stud High-Low ($10/$20), Ante $1, Bring-In $3 (converter)

I don't play Stud8 that much, but I think this is a fold here.

If you call Seat 4 is going to call, if you raise then Seat7 is going to call and you have dead outs. He is likely to call you down anyway thinking his 9's or two pair's good for hi. I think the pots too small to get involved in at this point.

Default Oops but...

Somehow while posting this hand I thought it was high only. Obviously a fold with a potential low hand behind me, what would you do if it WERE high only?

(BTW the hand was from a while ago, I THINK I knew at the time that it was stud/8 ... and I did just fold).

Bartholow,
If this hand was high only...and you wanted to push him off. You should wait till 5th. You're call will worry him bigtime (2 pair or not). If he doesn't spike a diamond you bet and he'll probably fold.

I don't put pressure on here..because he could peel, spike good..and then you will have a hard time getting him to fold.

Still a fold. He called on third with something, obviously not Nines. If he called wtih a pocket pair, you are behind and you can still get out cheaply. If he called with a three-straight or three-flush, he has overcards, and you're still behind.

This ignores the third man, who could stick it to you at any time. Lapsing into call-down mode at this point is committing to spending a lot to chase a small pot from behind.

Skip it.

Clearly I was not considering calling down.

Alternately, you raise and maybe get it heads-up in a small pot against a hand that's almost certainly beating you. What's the prize for that? If there had been more action on 3rd, and hence a bigger pot and more dead money when seat 4 folds, then raising would look better to me.

This is, of course, with repect to stud hi, not stud8. I understand that we're talking about how you would play the same cards in a different game, which would certainly change your opponents' likely holdings, so, hypothetically, if everything were different... I still fold 4th.
