Cash game ruling required
Lost all my links to poker site rules, would like a quote/opinions. I wasn't playing at the table ( was busy placing third in a 23 man sit and go).
Cash game with a dealer at a bar, they appear to follow robert rules of poker, they rake the game and so on. Its a NL $100 game. The problem occours on the river with three players left. UTG Player A was all in after the flop . Main pot about $55 to $65 dollars. A small side pot may of begun between players B and C. On the river, there was minor table talk going on and Player A thought it was checked down and announced his hand, Ace high flush but didn't show his hand. The dealer caught part of what he said and asked if he had just annouced his hand and Player A said he did and then he was informed that his hand was dead. He was told it was declared dead as play was still going on. |

Re: Cash game ruling required
No, his hand is not dead. Either of the other two players are probably entitled to kick him in the nuts, however. But as long as he's still in possession of two cards, then he can show them down.

Re: Cash game ruling required
His hand is still good. This applies to tournaments also. A penalty can be issued but rarely should an actual hand be killed in progress.
Of course there could be a house rule pertaining to disclosing your hand with action pending and the penalty is your hand is declared dead.... |

Re: Cash game ruling required
especially not dead since the action is heads-up at this point.

Re: Cash game ruling required
You kill him after the hand, not his hand during the hand.

Re: Cash game ruling required
Unless everyone at the game has had consensus before the game that a hand is declared dead when it is announced during play then it should still be live.
At most they should have just warned him not to do it again and the next time the hand would be considered dead. |

Re: Cash game ruling required
Bad ruling, unless Player A had a history of yapping prior to action being completed.
Tough to rule an all-in hand as dead IMO. |

Re: Cash game ruling required
Yeah, his hand should still be live. You can't just go killing hands every time a player or dealer makes a mistake.
If you have a guy doing this a lot, you need to warn him or even come up with a new rule for your home game. |

Re: Cash game ruling required
Horrible.
Either this bar has a rule where this was the correct call by dealer, which is a horrible rule, or this was a horrible call by the dealer as per Robert's Rules. Either way, horrible. And really, what's the harm here? All players B and C know now is that they are playing for the sidepot and the K high flush is nuts for that pot. Is there some way that either player B or C now has an advantage over the other? |
