Default Binion\'s for sale. New owner - Landry\'s?

A deal is expected within the week, Landry's is now the owner of the Golden Nugget and they are investing heavily in expanding the casino.MTR gaming, the current owner wants to leave the market so they can focus on racinos in PA and WV.

Landry's just tried to buy Smith & Wollensky but lost a bidding war.

It's no secret Binions has been losing money since it's been under MTR's control as well.

It might have helped if the [censored] hadn't turned the best lowroller joint in Vegas into a craphole with the worst BJ downtown.

Is the Binion's physical plant good enough to be upgraded to Nugget standards? Do you think Landry's can run a sawdust joint as well as a carpet joint?

BTW, I realize Binion's has carpet, but I'm convinced that's because sawdust is too expensive.

IIRC, The Horseshoe was the first casino in Vegas to have carpeting.

Also, I cam glad Landry's lost the bidding for Smith and Wollensky. The people that own the Rainforest Cafe should not own Smith and Wollensky's. It is bad enough that Maggianos is owned by the same people that own Macaroni Grill.

I stayed there a month in march, yes I found a bug in the bathroom one time. Carroll runs the poker room quite well, just small stakes though. Some of the tables dont have automatic shuffle and some of the dealers have one foot in the grave so they a little slow. they have a decent rake going on if you into small stakes no limit 1/2 no max buy in, I hit quads during my time there and 1200 dollar pot cause some folks will buy in for 500 or more. Anyway I was treated and all poker players far better then the Bellagio staff. they have a courtious attitude about them at binion unlike the bellagio. even the carpet joint orleans staff has better attitude then bellagio. Anyway hope carroll stays, lady makes best with what she is given.

I think the OP should provide sources or get banned like the last guy who posted information without them. Btw, "word on the street" and "sources say" aren't good enough hehe

Looks like Gaming Today is the source. Anyway, nothing against Landry's, but I would rather see some entity that doesn't already own another casino on Freemont Street buy the place. I would hate to see the Harrahfication of downtown.
