Re: The money or the title?
Money all day long. Bracelet don't mean [censored]. I'd rather be the richest poker player than the most bracelet winner anytime of the day.

[/ QUOTE ] Winning bracelets opens the doors for lucrative endorsement deals. I figure that if you win like 25 bracelets, you could pick up a like a 200k/yr deal. So, it sort of goes hand in hand if you think about it. |

Re: The money or the title?
I don't buy all this b.s. about people only being in poker for the money when they get a boner seeing their posts on 2+2, or thinking they're an internet star.

Re: The money or the title?
I would love to be at the FT of a tournament with the people who would take the title over the money.

Re: The money or the title?

[ QUOTE ] Being a woman, the title. I can get WAY more then what 1st place is worth in endorsements alone. T [/ QUOTE ] Alot of ppl are under this impression but I hate to say that in this poker economy I do not think there are any sites itching to pay "WAY" more than 8-12 mil to sponsor a female champion. I could be wrong but I think that if first place is a title and second place is 8-12 mil, then it would still be better for a woman to take the cash. Second place would still garner a lot of sponsorship interest and also I do not think that a woman could command a huge sum unless she is attractive on top of being a champion. I dunno, just seems like sponsorship opportunities have plummeted and there is no real evidence that females are a viable customer target considering their lack of participation thus far. [/ QUOTE ] A few years ago I would have been referring specifically to online sites, but since the law, the endorsements would come elsewhere. Think about it, the first woman to win the Main Event, (IF it ever happens) will be in the spotlight everywhere. David Letterman, Jay Leno, The Today Show, etc. etc. Sponsorship/endorsements can come everywhere from Cover Girl to Clairol to Candies Shoes to deodarant, etc etc etc. Yes, the woman who won would have to be somewhat cute or at the very least "fixable" (make up does WONDERS) and have SOME kind of personality to GET those endorsements, but if she was all that and a bag of chips, she'll make more money from all sorts of endorsements vs. the 1st place money. Re: The money or the title?
IIRC Fossilman estimated the pre-UIGEA value of the ME win to be worth over 3 million in endorsements, appearence fees, and the like. He said that the bracelet/title is ALMOST worth more than first place money...
