cts, what do you value more when you look back over hands like these?.... long-run +ev/-ev calls/bets, or short-run outplaying, even if its -ev in some spots but reads/history influencing your play. its a thin call but im sure its not the first time you have been in this spot and made the hero call. the 84 hand looked like good avertising.

so i dont really know much about NLHE but to apply some LHE concepts here...

if my opponent is willing to bluff on the turn without a pair (whether he has a heart or not) this is a great spot to checkraise the turn. the main reason is that he is less likely to bluff again on the river, and if we're planning on paying off a heart anyway, we can get the money in "better". this being NL adds another benefit of being able to push my oppt off a weak heart, which can save me the pot (and is impossible to do in LHE).

although i do see where your logic lies in hands with no pair no heart.
