Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (10SB, 5 players)

SB bets, UTG calls, econ_tim folds.

Results:
Final pot: 14.5BB

SB is around 35/7/1.4 and UTG is calling station

couple of questionable plays: normally i raise flop, but sometimes i call. on the turn, the raise might be too thin.

edit: this might not be the type of hand you are looking for since i didn't exactly miss the flop.

That turn raise is a little gross. If you work under the assumption that turn raises with big draws based on equity is never really +EV in shorthand poker I'd say you are playing correctly 99% of the time.

I think first is definitely expert.

I'm torn on the second hand. I really want to bet the turn. Most of the time are you check folding? Check calling and folding the river? The river is [censored] beautiful though.

Third hand is the same as the second one.

Fantastic river value bets. I have an essay in the draft on when to value bet ace high on the river and these hands capture the essence perfectly.

I can think of a few reasons why I wouldn't want to raise the turn based on equity. First, a small chance of being 3-bet by a better hand makes raising -EV. Second, I will usually be able to raise on the river if I make my hand. Is this what you meant?

can you talk more about this? i think this is a place where i probably consistently miss out on and/or lose a bet and it's a fairly common situation. -or- when will the draft be complete?

Krishan, I should point out a couple things about those hands.

First, those were obviously ones where my river value bet succeeded. I have ones where I thought I was value betting, got called by middle pair, and kind of felt like a chump. But in PT, it's easier for me to scan through the hands looking for the ones I won, where I did not have a hand that included a pair of A/K or a straight.

Secondly, in two of those hands (not sure about the third), there was some history between the villain and myself. I run into a lot of players who will push with any pair, so the fact that they play so complacently implies a hand that wants a cheap showdown, ie A/K-high. Plus, I think they were just out to get me.

Third, I so rarely fold AK-high, especially in HU 3-bet pots.

give up too easily?

only 20 hands on villain, and they are mined. the numbers are 20/40/10. but i'm not putting much weight on that.
