On the turn I was willing to take a free card, but once the action restarted and I could practically get in, I decided to so I didn't have to do any guessing if my flush hit. It might also knock out a bigger flush draw. |

Re: Wrap and lots of action. Spewing?
I would sometimes take the line you did when a player made what is basically a post oak bet like that with the same intention of getting rid of a better flush draw and especially splitting straight draws. The main consideration here is that although it is clear the button isn't going away with his short stack, you can force the others to call a big bet to stay in, and your pair gives you even more outs if you can get it headsup against the button who might only have 1 pair and a draw himself where you could make 2 pair or a board set of 7s on the river to win it. In deciding whether to make such a move you really need to know the tendencies of the other 2 players and whether they will ever fold a weaker draw to a big bet there or are in the habit of slowplaying top 2 but not folding if someone else had first bet the flop. The more of a calling station or loose drawer they are then the less success you will have in your raise getting it headsup.
