edit: and I'm pretty sure we see Beckett in late innings relief if things get rough and it's close. [/ QUOTE ] think theres a good chance this happens dont think its a good idea tho. a rested delcarmen is prob better than a tired beckett and it prob screws up the world series rotation |

Re: ALCS - Indians vs Red Sox
yeah, a rested delcarmen has been fantastic so far. i would rather see timlin in an important spot right now.
beckett for one or two innings would be fine, it's basically like a side session. he could prob still start game 1 if they made it, but even if he had to start game 2 instead, i'd rather that than not make the WS at all. the only decision points as far as whether to pitch him or not are if he'll be effective and if he'll get hurt. |

Re: ALCS - Indians vs Red Sox
Beckett will only pitch in Game 7 if it goes extra innings or if it's about 12-12 and we've gone through Delcamaren, Timlin, Okajima, and Papelbon already.
Becket is at best the #5 reliever on Sunday. Wakefield would probably get into the game ahead of him. |

[/ QUOTE ] these guys normally throw on their off day anyways - it's partially why Oswalt and Pettite relief innings this year. granted, it would only be for a few batters. also: Beckett isn't ruling out coming out of the bullpen on two-days' rest Sunday night if the Sox are still playing. He did it as a 23-year-old for the Marlins in 2003, pitching a complete-game shutout in Game 5 of the NLCS against the Cubs, then giving the Marlins four innings of one-hit relief in a Game 7 win. "We'll delve into that later," Beckett said. "Obviously, I'm preparing for them to ask me that and as of right now, yeah, I think that would be something I could do." |

[ QUOTE ] we've reclaimed HFA!! [/ QUOTE ] Not really until game 7 [/ QUOTE ] No, they have it now. If they had won Games 1 and 2 and then Cleveland swept their home side, it'd be 3-2 going to Fenway. |
