The rationale is I see the short stacks continually sticking it in with nothing. I figured if he had me beat pre flop, he would have raised me, so I felt like my A high was good, unless he outflopped me.

Turn was definately a bad raise.

in that case why not just call down?

you do realize that your flop raise makes it easy for the villain to play perfectly against you, right? he can throw away all his K/Q/nada hands on the turn. he can elect to call the flop raise then C/R on the turn if he flopped trips. he can try to 3 bet the flop on you sensing weakness and induce you to fold a winner. and he's certainly not folding a pair against you here, ever.

nothing good can come out of this flop raise.

also, fwiw, i guess if he's got 6 live outs then 1/8 times he'll outdraw you on the river when you just call down. is that really worth all the trouble i just described?

im referring to the fact that when you raise the flop and bet the turn, he's going to fold all his absolutely nothing hands (e.g KT, J8) that you have beat anyway, and that have a 1/8 shot of outdrawing you on the next card (the river card).

thats the only potentially "good" thing that can come out of this flop raise vs a slew of bad things.

I like the turn raise better than the flop raise.

But I don't make either.

OK, i get ya know. Thanks for explaining.

Obviously I made a hash of this hand, I guess some 'tilt' crept in as I was sick of this short stack betting into pots with nothing, and outdrawing, I decided to make the stand. I should have waited for a better position.
