[ QUOTE ]
The concept of a women's WSOP event is horrible. The same logic that begets this event should lead to other fun stuff, like an all Vietnamese event. I'm not bothering to read anything (and this isn't really the right forum for this, but I won't move it) but I'm pretty sure I agree with Annie's basic premise. There's nothing about being a woman that makes poker harder, and having a seperate woman's event is stupid and insulting. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Annie Duke Interview Controversy regarding Ladies WSOP event.
I haven't read this entire thread, so excuse me if this analogy has been made already....
What Annie is saying about awarding a bracelet in a women's only event is comparable to giving Olympic medals to winners of "special" Olympic events. She's not saying that women's only (or segregated) events shouldn't exist, she's saying the WSOP is the wrong venue. The structure is set up as open events that anyone of age can enter, and subsequently win, so there should be no need to set apart specific populations, and this goes for the seniors and dealers only events as well. And as far as comparing the women's event to the special Olympics, that's not a stretch by any means. The play in these tournaments is terrible. |

I had a dream about Annie Duke last night and when I woke up I had frosted my shorts. I like her tramp stamp.
