The GFS Hot Dog Challenge
This is a terrible idea. Terrible, terrible idea. Typing this out is making my stomach turn. But sometimes, when destiny knocks, you just have to man up and answer.
The challenge: Two men, 100 hot dogs, 48 hours. No buns, no breaks, no barfing. The two men in question are myself and a friend of mine. The 100 hot dogs will come at a price of about $12 at the local Gordon Food Service. The contest begins at midnight tonight. The early feedback is mixed - about 50% "you can do it" and 50% "if you could do that I'd become a roadie for Nickleback, upper deck my own toilet and lick the taint of Carlos Mencia." Do you guys think it's possible? I'll be live blogging it from the address below as well, so stop by to check on our progress. http://blametheref.blogspot.com/ |

Re: The GFS Hot Dog Challenge
At the 2006 World Hotdog Eating Championships on July 4th on Coney Island, NY, Takeru Kobayashi broke his own world record by eating 53 and 3/4 hotdogs in just 12 minutes to win the title for the sixth straight year!
I'd say 100 hot dogs in 48 hours is doable. |

I think 50 a piece in 2 days will not be possible for someone that hasnt trained. |

Re: The GFS Hot Dog Challenge
Yeah, minimal training but we're both big eaters with pretty quick metabolisms.
Anyone have any idea about what this is going to do to my body? |

Does this mean you have to eat the 100 hotdogs all in one sitting, and then not throw up for 2 days, or can you spread the eating over the 48 hour period? If you can spread it out, this should be trivial. 3 meals each of 8 1/3 hotdogs (with no bun, weak) isn't going to be hard at all. |

Re: The GFS Hot Dog Challenge
i could do this easy. i used to eat 8-10 hot dogs without buns as a normal meal and not even feel bloated. 24 hours would be pushing it, but 48 is a gimme.
9am- 10 hot dogs 3pm- 6 hot dogs 10pm- 9 hot dogs 10am- 7 hot dogs 3pm- 9 hot dogs 9pm- 9 hot dogs That's only 36 hours and I'd probably be snacking in between cause I'd be hungry. Go for 24 hours and impress me. For 24 hours, I'd do noon- 10 hot dogs 4pm- 10 hot dogs 10pm- 10 hot dogs 6am- 10 hot dogs 11:30am- 10 hot dogs This |

Re: The GFS Hot Dog Challenge
It's not how filling this is, it's forcing your body to consume 50 hot dogs. I'm 8 deep now and it's not pleasant. By time I get to 30-35 I'm going to want to punch a baby. As far as the buns go, the guideline was we didn't HAVE to use buns (that was part of the original bet). We've gotten two 16 packs anyway and we'll use all of them without a doubt.
This is a warm-up for the larger bet, which was 100 hot dogs each in three days, which we'll do sometime (probably a long time, don't think I'll be wanting to eat hot dogs anytime soon) down the road. Just to remind you guys, I'm live blogging some updates from time to time at http://blametheref.blogspot.com/ |
