Default Lumière Place (St. Louis) Opening 12/19/07

Saw a few TV adds but the website has not been updated yet. Opens is just a little over 1 month. Anyone else around here excited about this? If your going to be at the grand opening or a regular post here.

I'm just hoping this finally brings some decent games to the city. Presidents is barely doable on the weekends so if you want a real game its about 30 minutes from downtown. I also hope this can finally spread out some of the action, because your only real choice if you play a lot is Harrah's.

I can't say I'll be a "regular" at this time, but I am interested in checking it out. The same company owns the President so hopefully they will just axe that poker room and install a nicer one in the new casino.

Going to Harrah's makes me feel dirty so I hope this will be a viable alternative.

The next step: kill the loss-limits!!!

I also hate going there for some reason, the 45 minute drive doesn't help.

The loss limit does suck, and it hurts the games. I don't understand how/why anyone would play the $1000NL and 20/40 games that run every once in a while. To be able to buy-in you would have to be up a good amount for the day, or getting chips every hour. Either way I don't want to be in games that only those people can get in.

I wish Casino Queen would have opened a room. Last time I went and played some BJ the guy next to me was doing $100-$500 a hand and had about 10k In front of him. I didn't know $500 chips existed.

I'll probably play there fairly often. Also, I am told that the guys playing the bigger games on weekends (and most of the 2/5 regulars) just cash in their chips for bigger chips when they cash out at the end of the games, then bring those chips in with them when they play. That way they dont actually have to buy chips, and thus the loss limit doesnt really apply.

Kinda kills the tourist fish population. It pretty much guarantees you will be playing against regulars.

Where is this one at? I moved from STL a couple years back, and remember them talking about building a casino south of the city....

I'm going to try to be there. I'm a little worried about the quality of the dealers.

Its being built on "the landing" just north of the arch and just east of HWY 70 I pass it to and from work daily. I live in South County and rarely make the 40 minute trip up to Harrahs/Ameristar. I'm looking forward to the new casino opening downtown and even more excited about the one being built in Affton, to open in 2009

Has anyone heard confirmation there will in fact be a poker room?

Aaron

Edited to add: Its across the street from the football "DOME", whatever they're calling it these days.

That's what I was trying to get at. Anyone who goes through all that is someone you don't want at your table.

To the post above. I saw it in writing on something, can't remember what. They have not updated their website yet with any info.

I ran into the same problem at a trip to KC,when I wanted to play in the 20/40 game at Station/Ameristar casino. I told the floor about my concern, he walked over to a player at the table who quietly sold me an extra $1000 in chips from his pocket. From what I could tell it was 6 regulars in the game and me, at first they were glad for some fresh meat, after the game broke the guy (Frank) who sold me the chips walked over to me and said quietly, "not next time".
