Radiohead's new album In Rainbows was like this for me. Nothing grabbed me in the first few listens but now I like listening to it from start to finish over and over.

Same here, also agree w/ Modest Mouse as well.

And lol at st. anger, that just got worse and worse.

I'm another one for 10,000 Days. I'm still not really all that into it. It took me a while to warm up to Aenima, then it became one of my faves.

The first thing that came to mind was Outkast - ATLiens. I was pretty ambivalent after my first listen, but since has become one of my favorites - certainly my favorite album to zone out and listen to the whole thing.

As far as going from dislike to like, all of Ghostface's albums.

I agree with whoever said Bob Dylan.

I like most of the albums mentioned here, but in many cases, I had no problem getting into them, so, for me:

Ellen Allien & Apparat - Orchestra of Bubbles
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois (the whole album, I liked 3-4 songs alot on first listen)
Pretty much every Tom Waits album. I kinda like it the first time, then I love it.
I don't know what else.

A lot of stuff here (bob dylan, neon bible, modest mouse stuff) I "got" right away. That said I think the biggest ones for me were Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, and Kid A.

That's pretty freaky that these were the exact 3 albums I came in here to mention. It must not be coincidence. I think the biggest one for me out of these three, however, is YHF. YHF took me, literally, a year of occasional listening to eventually come to love and it now stands as one of the most flawless records I have ever had the privilege of hearing. It really is a grower in the truest sense.

Growers are always really worth it and I am glad that I listened to the advise of one of my good friends and CMI also, who encouraged me to give these albums a chance. They are now huge in my life. On a slightly related note, my favorite movie of ALLLL time is The Big Lebowski and it took me 3 times to even like the darn thing. I now literally fall asleep to it every night [with a Bob Dylan song in the opening credits usually being one of the last things I hear] Growers are worth it.

Very true. It also took me like 5 years to really start to like Wu-Tang Forever. Also took me a while until I started loving Liquid Swords. Must be a Wu-Tang thing. And RZA's Bobby Digital took everyone who listens to it about 6 years to start appreciating it, because I remember when it first came out all I heard was how terrible it was and it was a huge disappointment.

Kid A I got like immediately.
Yankee & Aeroplane are spot on, though.
