Are you suggesting that maybe he thinks that guitar is pronounced gatar, and further, that this is any better? [/ QUOTE ] As a joke he might pronounce it gatar. I'm sure I've seen it pronounced like that in the Simpsons before or something. |

Re: Rant: People who can\'t spell
[ QUOTE ]
I'm an excellent speller, and I used to think less of people who weren't, but I eventually started looking at it more like econophile. If the vast majority of people don't value spelling very highly when taking into account someone's intelligence, who am I to place extra importance on it just because it's something I happen to excel at? Someone could just as easily think people who aren't good at math are dumb, and I'm not particularly good at math, so I'd be dumb. This is clearly not the case since I'm so badass and smart. [/ QUOTE ] I suck at math but got a perfect score on the verbal part of the SATs. Still a [censored] speller though. |

Re: Rant: People who can\'t spell
I graduated top of my class in both high school and college and people generally think of me as intelligent.
I'm not the worst speller in the world, but I'm ranked. I can't give you a good explanation, I think my brain works a little differently than most people. I have a lot trouble distinguishing the difference between e and i in a lot of words and certain consonants mess me up. For example when I was trying to spell 'distinguishing' I couldn't get the 'ish' part right. Luckily I have spell check for everything write. |
