Re: Recommend to me a watch under $500
Yeah, I actually just bought a Swiss Army watch, and I definitely like it. I got the Dive Master 500m, in silver, and am very happy with it.
http://www.swissarmy.com/Watches/Pro...ct=241039& Having said that, though, I kind of wish I'd gotten a watch that has multiple dials on it. I just think it makes the watch look nicer (and more expensive). Anyone else have any thoughts on that? I'd also like to note that I didn't spend $500 on it, only $300 (my friend works at a watch store). Not sure if I would have paid $500 for it. |

Re: Recommend to me a watch under $500
Movado Watches, if you search online you should be able to find some for $350+. Personally I like the Strato which you can get for about $630(retails over $1k) on Amazon.
Strato: If you want to check out their other watches go to www.movado.com and then you should be able to search for the style you like on google. |

I like Movado style, but every-freaking-one is wearing them, so I went with a similar Citizen.

[/ QUOTE ] nothing says im a wanna-be-baller more than movado. seriously, you are much better off with any of the watches I listed earlier. when you are ready to spend at least $1,500 then we can start getting into some real watches. please dont take me the wrong way, we all must start somewhere, but all im saying is stay away from the $400-$800ish watches as they are not much better than the $100-200 range. |

Swiss Army watches are nice, and most are in the $200-500 range. [/ QUOTE ] I second this. Many Swiss Army watches in the even $200-$300 range are very nice. (And by very nice I mean they are really excellent for the money, not that they compare to a Breitling.) |

Re: Recommend to me a watch under $500
Go to random retail store, pick nicest-looking one at $100 or less, invest rest into index funds. But in fairness I'm not a "baller."
Also, I was genuinely disappointed that the Swiss Army watches, for $200+, don't have a knife inside of them as well. I'd pay out the nose for a watch that has a stabbing end. But no, it's apparently worth that much because it's made from the country of indecisive chocolate-makers who think calling it a timepiece triples its actual value. See also "The Millionaire Next Door." Edit: I opened up my copy of TMND and the median for wristwatches was $235 (1996 dollars, at most). So I shouldn't be that shrill about it, but I have a decent-looking silver watch I got for $37 at a general department store, after coupons and sales (initial $60). lol frugalments. (I'm sorry.) |
