Default Buying a new laptop

My old Gateway has now officially crapped out on me, and it's time to upgrade. I don't want a desktop, but I want one with lots of screen space for multitabling and some serious processing power. I like the HP ones with the huge 17" screens -- anyone have something like this, and have some advice/recommendations?

I think the Dell Inspiron 9300's with the screen upgrade is the favorite laptop around here.

Look here for coupons.

I'm in the exact same situation as the OP. What is the screen upgrade? Are you talking about the 17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife?
