What's it like to be 20? Do your knees work perfectly? Is urinating ever difficult? How about bowel movements?

Ah, I bet those morning hard-ons are a PITA. I remember the days of trying to go while, as Dice once said, "Joey's admiring the chandelier!"

Penis related problems used to afflict me, since I didn't discover the wonders of self-service until my nineteenth birthday. Absurd but true. This led to frequent "LOL I JUST CAME IN MY PANTS" situations. Not-so-ironically, it was a poker playing friend (and 2+2 member LDO) who suggested I take it up.

How does being circumsized affect your chess game?

[/ QUOTE ]

Since the moyle (embarassingly not sure how to spell that) who did the deed cut with a left bias, being a member of the snipped tribe enables me to urinate into my opponent's right ear canal with lightening speed, thereby disturbing his concentration.

American tournament chessplayers in the 2+2 community may be familiar with a certain Batchimeg Tuvshintugs, who is almost as sexy as she is Mongolian.

what's your chess rating? have you ever spent time at a kibbutz? how do you like miami?

[/ QUOTE ]

USCF Rating = 2150

My dad's sister's family actually lived in a Kibbutz for over 20 years. Like all the labor Zionists of her generation, she was a very commited socialist. Unfortunately, a quarter lifetime living on Kibbutz Revadim left her and her husband (both educated professionals) frustrated and disillusioned with the system. Today, the Israeli Kibbutzim which still succeed (there are very few) are becoming increasingly privatized. BTW, this next sentence goes beyond the Kibbutz issue: While I am generally a realist, and am a very committed Zionist, there is nonetheless something sad about admitting to ourselves that the militant, Jabotinsky-ist wing of Zionism won out.

I like Miami lots. As cliche as it sounds, everybody here really does have a story to tell.

Is there such a thing as a non-practicing jew?

If you're not practicing, aren't you something else?

I don't get the whole it's-not-a-religion-and-it's-not-an-ethnicity-it's-both deal.

Always wanting it both ways.....

Interesting question. To me, a "non-practicing" Jew is one who is truly Jewish only in name; no Jewish consciousness, no sense of nationhood, no interest in one's Jewish roots, etc.

RE: Religion and ethnicity, here's my opinion: Within its broad subgroups (specifically the division of world Jewry into Ashkenazi and Sephardic), Judaism definitely has ethnic characteristics. For example, I (along with most of the Jews Westerners ever meet) am an Ashkenazi Jew. My ancestors came from Ukraine/Poland/Russia/Lithuania/Moldova. It is not unfeasible that there are Jews on this forum whose great-great-great-great (etc) grandparents came from the same hole-in-the-wall village in Eastern Europe that mind did.

In terms of calling Judaism in its entirety an ethnicity, I think there are factual problems with this. For example, I don't think I have much ethnic commonality with an Ethiopian Jew.

Interesting side note: On my last visit to Israel, I attended the Bar-Mitzvah of a very close family friend of mine, sort of a little brother/cousin, who is an adopted Ethiopian Jew (Ethiopian Jew by birth, adopted by Australian Jewish family). There were many Ethiopian Jewish relatives of his present, one of whom shared my age and name. As provincial as this may sound, it was fascinating to me see that him and I both grew up speaking Hebrew, attending synagogue, etc.

Clarification: As you will have ascertained, I am quite white, whereas my acquaintance was very black. My surprise/interest is derived from the fact that beyond a couple family friends, nobody of dark skin was (or is now, for that matter) part of my Jewish world.

So someone actually had to tell you to masturbate? How is that possible? I find this amazing and frightening.
