I called PokerTek a few months ago to get on information packet, with an eye toward opening up a small card room in my area. Totally got the brush-off. Oh well.

I did, however, find out that the tables can only deal hold'em & Omaha. No 7-stud varient games at all. And I'm not entirely sure they could handle Omaha/8.

That's kind of a drag, since most of the old timers in my area still play 7-stud.

They are equipped to deal O8

No Stud, no chance to get an entertaining dealer, no chips to play with, no cards to protect....

Why would I leave home to play this?

More hands per hour = more rake for the casino

More hands per hour = more profit for a skilled player

The only people who lose out are the fish.

There's a chance that the players traveling to New Buffalo to play live BJ may be slightly worse players than the ones 8-tabling the 3/6 games on Pokerstars.

Serious question: how do they protect these games against collusion/cheating, when there's nobody there to observe the players' conduct during the hands?

They've got Steve Forte looking into it.

A good question, and one I'm waiting to see what the answer is, as well. What happens with a live dealer? In reality, not in perfect fantasy poker world.

However, whether playing live or on these e-tables, I think it's in a players best interest to watch out for these things himself. I'm sure not counting on the dealer to do it. Especially if it's regulars that he sees every day.

Good news.... for my home game.

Bad news for that MI casino, where I'll never ever play.

Last Wednesday the $50 midnight had 28 entrants. My understanding from players who have been in a few other weekday midnights was that that was an average number of entrants. They've been running for less than 2 weeks, however, so I would expect that number to remain fluid.

It said you can play PLO8 which is such a bitch to play in a casino with dealers because the game is so slow.
