Anelka has been the best striker this season

Most of us rate the World Cup & Euros ahead of club football

Thieverpool is better than Livershite imo

Nope, all good there

[/ QUOTE ]Dunno, they're a lot better than they used to be, and only really miss Brazil & Argentina from the competitive teams you'd get at the World Cup.

Love them both, summer tournaments are awesome. Club football rules them though, just too apathetic about England national team to rate them higher.

On a ten point scale, if the World Cup is a 10 then Euro has to be at least a 9.

The group stage of Euro is super competitive. In contrast, you could have gone into a comma for the first two weeks of the last World Cup without really missing much. I'll grant that this isn't always the case (2002) and I wouldn't want there to be 24 European teams at the expense of giving little countries like Trinidad & Tobago a chance, but there is no denying that the European Championship is by far the most balanced, competitive tournament.

If you can't enjoy the second-most popular sporting event on the planet, then I feel sorry for you.

This is way off..

International football is massively second fiddle to club football these days, and has been since the money flooded into the english game.

The best club teams would comfortably beat the best international teams.

Warrington however rocks!

[/ QUOTE ]Okay, rate may be the wrong word, what I should have said is get more excited about the world cup. I don't know who you support, but if you're form Warrington then I'll take a stab at Man U or Liverpool. Now take a Champions League final where neither of those are playing, so you'll be neutral, and then take a World Cup final where Scotland or England aren't playing.
It's no contest for me which one I'd watch.(I'm saying "I" here, when really neither of those two would have me running to see them in a CL final anyway - you get the point though)

The World Cup is a major sporting festival, the CL is devalued on two points. It's not a "Champions" league anymore, and it's annual.

The first of those two points actually makes me strongly in favour of the World Cup. The "flood of money" is irrelevant to fans. How does that change the event? It doesn't, what the flood of money has done is create an ever more inflated CL that doesn't actually represent the best teams anymore. Liverpool won the CL despite only being the fourth best team in England. If it was still a real Champions League, Liverpool would have just scraped into the UEFA cup qualifying spots.

So for me, the money has nothing to do with it, and if anything has contributed to the WC becoming an even more preferable spectacle.

Arsenal are gonna win if they score first. If Man U score first I can see them putting a few more past us.

Personally couldn't care about the other 9 games.
