snowden,
Wages of Wins is really flawed.
It doesn't factor in VORP.
It doesn't factor in marginal returns on shots taken.

2)Howard
3)Amare
4)Camby
5)Chandler

No Yao because he turns the ball over too much and isn't a good enough rebounder, although that is the one I am most torn about, and if you don't value rebounding that high then he should go 4th above Camby and chandler who are both very similar players. He's also hurt too often, which also is a big consideration keeping him off.
No melo because he doesn't shoot well enough, all the other people I have at the three are great all around players excpet carter who edges him on being a better 3 point shooter, but better passer, and turning the ball over less.
Arenas at the 2 because he shoots the ball so often and isn't really a pure point in the way the other PG's are. I think of him more in the iverson type who I consider a 2. If you put arenas as a 1 he'd be 4th behind chauncey. Overall the 2 guard position is really weak I think, and the PF position is really stacked, especially if you consider Amare and Duncan as 4's which is reasonable.

[/ QUOTE ]

You say he turns the ball over too much:

Here are Yaos Numbers vs your top 5:

Howard: 3.9 TOG / 5.0 TO48
Ming: 3.6 TOG / 4.9 TO48
Amare: 2.8 TOG / 4.1 TO48
Duncan: 2.8 TOG / 4.1 TO48
Chandler 1.4 TOG / 2.4 TO48

So 4 of your top 5 Turn over the ball at comparable rates, even one that's higher.

Yao Ming is still a better scorer than anyone in your top 5 and plays at worst about the same number of minutes. He's also an excellent FT shooter. His FG% might not be greater than 55%, but he takes a lot more shots then most of the guys listed in your top 5.

I will admit, I used to hate on Yao, but to leave him out of the top 5 seems kinda rediculous. I can't imagine any GM in the league taking most of the guys in your top 5 over him.

Chris Paul top 5?

Nash, Kidd, Billups are locked. Debate other two.

KG or Dirk? Who goes first?

Paul Pierce is not the 2nd best 3 in the league even in this fantasy world you are apparently living in. PP is #5 at best. I put VC at #5 and I understand its debatable, but PP at #2 is ridiculous. Marion + Melo are a lot better than PP.

[/ QUOTE ]

Pierce was injured for much of this year and his team sucked. I think you're letting that cloud your judgment a bit(compare that, for example, to Vince Carter who played all 82 games this year and had Jason Kidd feeding him the ball).

Give Pierce a mulligan for this past year and take a look at how he did in his last HEALTHY year, which was 05-06:

26.8 points
47.1% shooting
6.7 rebounds
4.8 assists

Thats all in one year! To carry out your Vince Carter comparison, in 9 NBA seasons Vince has only once scored more points, never shot that high of a percentage, never had more rebounds, and never had more assists. And thats not even mentioning defense or leadership.

LOL @ Baron Davis. I am virtually certain he doesn't make *anyone's* list before he got hot for 4 games. He's not top 5 and damn sure not top 2.

[/ QUOTE ]

he was #5 on my list before the playoffs. (I make lists like this all the time)

Assani has the closest ranking to mine and I honestly can't see anyone putting VC anywhere near the list. PG list is spot on to mine. Seriously, I go to UCLA and it's unreal how B-Diddy is top 5 right now when you have Nash/Kidd/Paul/Chauncey in the league. You might argue for a case for #5 but he is in another league when it comes to running a team. It's [censored] unreal Gasol isn't getting love at all.

Your SF is really weird imo. I'd rank Marion higher than that and GW hasn't prove himself worthy yet. I might add KEVIN DURANT on the list. just kidding. Anyone got love for Caron Butler? He averaged double-double last year for God's sake (picked him in a 12-team draft in the 5th round. Gotta love him).

PF is consensual to everyone that knows the tiniest thing about basketball.

I used to think Yao was the best center in the league hands down when Amare didn't have a shot and was crappy at the FT line. However this is the first valid case to have Yao not at #1 C at all. Would you have Duncan over Yao? I don't see that happening at all tbh. Tyson Chandler? haha

[/ QUOTE ]

Which of the 3 would you drop to put Marion higher? Durant actually would make my list, but I'll leave that alone for now. Butler would definitely be in my top 7 or 8, as I'm a Wizards fan and am well aware of him. I'd like to see him do it for one more year though.

Completely agree with your dumbfoundedness regarding the lack of love for Gasol.

I've seen Gasol play less than any other "superstar" in the league. That's my only reason.
