Default 50$ MTT ongame ITM, resteal with AJ?

50$ mtt ongame(european daily), average to fast structure, bad players in general but i guess decent nearing the end.

blinds 800/1600, no antes.

i have 20K and im dealt AJo in the bb.

folds to the CO who has 17K and minraises.

mustshove with no reads? 3.2K+1.6K+800=5.6K in the middle

dont know anything about the player.

we are in the money, 479 starting, 60 paid, 40 left. going out now is 107$ or so, first is like 5500$.

average stack is between 15-20K somewhere.

I shove here, not necessarily as a resteal tho because you have the best hand a high % of the time.

In my experience, LP minraises are usually weak

I vote weak, but I'm not a min-raiser. Don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but I'm interested to know when min-raises are optimal, if ever. The only time I do it preflop is when the blinds are high and the table has folded to them consistently, and even then I normally raise 3x.

What places are min-raises a good play after the flop? I NEVER min-raise after the flop, and the only time I remember doing it was a misclick. I'd just like to know if thats a bad thing.

I quite like min raises when i want to get someone either pot committed or to shove over the top because they think they have spotted weakness and I hold a monster!

OP, in this spot a late position min raise does look weak and persoanlly i jam all day long with AJ in this spot.

i like to minrais in villains spot to provoke a shove from bb because it looks like a cheap steal...

i normally dont minraise but wiill usually jsut raise 2.5bb in th end of tournaments(if that raisesize is respected).

anyway i shoved he called with AK.

I pretty much never minraise as well preflop. I could maybe see it when you have between 10-15bbs, but I'm usually not open raising there unless I have a pretty strong hand.

In this case, AJ reshove is good, you just got unlucky. You'll have his range beat enough of the time for this shove to be correct
