I ended up folding it. Not sure if this was too tight or not but had a sneeking suspicion I was up against AJ or A5. Plus I'm also losing to JJ and 55 and I figured these hands were quite likely with his cold call on the flop with no obvious draws. Thoughts?

never ever ever ever fold in this spot again

I think this is perfect -- if you call the river. Not betting the turn on a very dry board (no real need to protect/vb against a draw) means that your villain will be betting a lot of hands you beat for value. You dodged getting stacked by a villain slowplaying 2pr or better, and got the most value out of other made hands. It only sucks if villain had A2 -- not often enough to matter.

Calling station/passive/non-believer type... well, bet the turn.

If you're going to induce a bluff you have to call.

JJ, 55, AJ are possibilities of course.
But so are AQ, AT, A9, etc.
Depending on villain, he plays those hands exactly this way. Your check on the turn made your hand seem weak, AT may look like the nuts to him.
As another poster above mentioned, you only have to beat him 1/3 the time to make money. Easy call.

Call this. Also, on this board I'm pretty 50/50 between ebt turn/check river and check turn/bet or call river.

This is the standard line for TPTK. We check the relatively dry turn to induce a bluff. It looks like it may have worked, now call!!!

Exactly what Khaos said, if you check to control the pot and induce bluffs you have to call when the potential 'bluff', or from his viewpot value bet with AQ etc. is made.
