Given that you checked the flop, I like how you played the rest of the hand. I dont think the flop check is horrible but I still prefer betting.

don't you see the beauty though? QJ would have folded to a flop bet, yet he picked up something on the turn and gave me 2BB!

I dont think your flop play is inherently bad. For instance, if you had TT, then I would hate your flop play. With KK and even QQ giving a possible free card isnt that dangerous, and I suppose against certain opponents it is theoretically possible that checking this flop can be better than betting this flop. For example: If the player to your left was an autobettor and the player to your right was a clueless habitual bluffer, checking KK or QQ in this spot may be the best play.

My first instincts tell me this is a results orientated way of thinking. Just because an opponent picks up a card he can bet on the turn one hand, does not mean it is going to be the general rule that will make you profit in the long run.
I also prefer betting this flop, it is an information move and gets you value more often then not. If you check your K everytime an A flops, you are making a mistake that's probably ingrained because you received false reinforcement by losing a few high PPs to an A flop.
Now, it is possible to make a different play, but you would have to have ample evidence to support a different play. Since you did not post any info on your opponents, its impossible to argue this without being highly speculative. For future reference, its helpful if you have stats on your opp to get a thoughtful analysis of nearly all HHs.
