As long as we're talking worst performance in a loss, I feel compelled to remind you that while one of Dixon's three interceptions was an end of the half hail mary... the other two both came in the fourth quarter of the Cal game.

I was going to say the same.

The old Dennis Dixon came back at the worst time

How did the Heisman award become all about the team's success or failure?

I'm not saying one way or another how it should be , but if I remember correctly there have been Heisman winners from losing teams/mediocre teams.

I guess this argument falls along the lines of MVP awards in other sport...

Tebow played fine vs Auburn. That D was ferocious and the first half, no playmaker for UF could get it done. He probably would of engineered the last bit of the comeback if Percy Harvin didn't run backward on that first play on their final drive.

At least I won't be bitter if DD wins, like I was when Eric [censored] Crouch won. I'll be actually pulling for the Ducks & DD the rest of the way. I'd really like to see them in the MNC and I'll probably be pulling for them even vs LSU.

It's always been that way to a large degree.

Well, right, but it's certainly not a requirement.

agreed, but as other said, it has been about winning. so "when did it become......" = pretty much always....

it's somewhat related to Most Valuable vs. Most Outstanding. i think heisman has gone "most valuable on winning team". or basically QB or RB on winning team....

very, very screwed up award but we all follow it and debate it..

if we don't care about wins-losses,
McFadden > Tebow

I know you're smart enough to know this isn't even close to true
