Re: A difficult river
[ QUOTE ]
Well I bet the river, and the villain smoothly puts out 12 chips. Should I call here never? seldom? often? always? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah fold. I can't put him on a hand you beat. |

Re: A difficult river
Now you have to fold. Too bad.

Re: A difficult river
Check call the river would be very bad, he'll just check right back with AK most of the time. Bet fold is definitely the way to go.

Re: A difficult river
Ok, time to come clean about this hand. The hand did happen exactly as posted, but in reality I was the button. I 3-bet the under-the-gun raiser with 77. What is my point here? Well, I feel river bet/fold lines are advocated too often here on the 2+2 forums. So much so, that I have started trying elaborate raise-bluff lines on boards with lots of draws, against players I perceive to be possible 2+2ers. My results are mixed - out of 5 attempted raise-bluffs, all on different tables, 3 have been successful. I try them in heads-up pots about 10BB in size, where I judge that the other player pretty much has to have only one pair. I'm not saying necessarily that 3-betting an tight UTG raiser with 77 is good, or that spending 3.5 BB after the flop to win a 4.5 BB pot is wise. But if I see you at the tables and I think you can make a 'good' fold in a medium pot, it's only a matter of time before I come after you. |

Re: A difficult river
i think a c/c here is the most EV+ in this situation. If he has a hand that beats you hes raising river, if u check, it may induce an AK bluff bet and then you rake.

Re: A difficult river
So what actually happened on the river here?
Is the QQ villian's actual hand? Did you try the bluff raise and he called? |
