I take it you didn't check the turn. I wouldn't because the third guy could be drawing to a gutshot or a flush. Too many possibilities with this board. [/ QUOTE ] Ahhhh...the voice of sanity in the house of the insane. |

Re: Ok, I Didn\'t Play It This Way
Unless you are playing with good thinking players, taking anything other than the obvious line is costing you money. If UTG has any piece or any draw, he will call a bet. Villian will check behind with KQ, and maybe pay off a bet if a K or Q hits river, but outside of that, dunno what benefit we get from checking...better chance of showing our hand down?

To pick up an extra big bet versus risking the dreaded free card to let two other players draw to the nuts at no charge. YOU GOTTA BET WITH A SET OF ACES HERE TO KNOCK OUT SOMEONE WITH THE Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] OR THE THE LIKE. IN FACT I WOULDN'T MIND KNOCKING BOTH PLAYERS OUT AND WINNING IT RIGHT THERE ON THE TURN. READ SKLANSKY "ON HOLDEM FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS, 20TH CENTURY EDITION." "WIN THE BIG POTS RIGHT AWAY, DON'T BE A TARD" to quote David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth. |

Re: Ok, I Didn\'t Play It This Way
A chance to check-raise 2 players for value. What is the TAG calling the flop with? If he has KQ, he is folding to a bet anyway.
I mean, I really didn't take this line, but I have been thinking about it. In the actual hand I bet, the button called and the other dude folded. Button ended up have J7ss, which sort of shocked me since he had played TAG before and after that hand. However, I am 97% sure he would have bet his flush draw on the turn had I checked it to him. |

Its just too risky giving two players a free card with that board, so betting is the correct play, and I would do it every time. I ain't doing anything sexy with three aces in 20/40 on the turn. |

Re: Ok, I Didn\'t Play It This Way
Think of it from his perspective:
I am a TAG. I raise pre-flop. Ace flops. I bet flop. I check turn. From his perspective: What can he put me on? To me it looks like 88-KK or something like KQ where I was trying to isolate. It doesn't look like a scared Ace because I would bet any ace again. From my perspective: What can I put him on? He is a TAG. He cold called pre-flop and called a bet on an Ace high flop. I am pretty confident he folds KQ to a flop bet. To me, it looks like he has a pair of sorts which he will think is best once I check it to him. |

IT'S ONLY THE FIRST LEVEL OF THINKING!!! I got three aces which is the best hand at the moment, BET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They can only get lucky on you. You gotta make'em pay right here, right now!!! If another TAG is on the button, the likelyhood he will check behind you with an ace on the board is just too great. |

Re: Ok, I Didn\'t Play It This Way
I think a TAG peels the flop with KQ but checks behind with it on the turn.
Are you thinking c/r to push out the UTG limper, or do you assume he'll call two cold on the big street? Cowboy Billy: Can you explain what little you're giving up and what "lot more" you're gaining? What good things can come from this? Can you think of any bad things? |
