Default Going to Chicago for Work - What to do?`

So I am going to be in the Chicago area next week for training. I'm supposed to be at my training facility sometime Sunday night, but I figured I'd fly in a day early and enjoy Chicago. My plans were to just wander around Saturday, go out Saturday night, and then go to Wrigley Sunday to see the Cubs game before I head to my training facility.

I guess my question here would be where in the city should I get a hotel, and where should I go at night? FWIW - I am a 25 year old single guy who pretty much doesn't dance (so clubs are out). I just like to hang out, drink beers, and look at/hit on hot girls who are about my age.

So any suggestions on any of the above questions, as well as suggestions on where else would be good to go during the day would be appreciated.

Cappy

Whats your budget?

palmer house is my favorite hotel in teh world

in lincoln park, on friday nights there are just a ton of hot chicks at bordeaux's and grand central.

Eat at the chicago chop house if you want some steak, and oysters.

legends has good food and music, but the hours can sometimes screw you, becuase it is randomly closed once in awhile.

giodorno's is teh best for chicago style pizza, lou malnati's is the worst

I really don't have a budget. I mean I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money, but I can go out and splurge without a problem.

most of the places I mentioned are moderately priced btw. also, if you have the mindset of a twelve year old, the super mcdonalds, and ed debevics are a good time for lunch.

Thanks for the suggestions guids. This is definitely what I was looking for.

Just looked online and Palmer House is booked up for Saturday. It looked like it was a little further from Lincoln Park though. Are there any good hotels closer to the good nightspots?

palmer house is right in teh middle of the two hotspots that I like to hit up, Rush street, and lincoln park. its a little closer to rush, but only like a 10 minute cabride depending on traffic.

last time I stayed, I got a good deal at the hyatt on lower wacker, lincoln park is a little less "clubby" than rush, but I always have a better time on rush st. So I suggest finding a hotel near rush.

Depends on how old you are for going out. Rush street is more touristy and an older crowd. Lincoln Park is a younger crowd and all bars.

I know for a fact that CappyAA has the mindset of a 12 year old. I know nothing about Chicago Cappy, but I have heard great great things about this area: Magnificent Mile: Nightlife and Dining

have fun brotha!

i stayed at the hard rock hotel recently. the location is good (just a few blocks from the magnificent mile) and the rooms are noticably bigger than the palmer house.

Cappy,

Guids suggestions are spot on -

If you only have one day to explore the city, you probably should spend it in wrigleyville or lincoln park.

check out these resources:

www.metromix.com
www.chicagobarproject.com

Barleycorn is a huge decent place, but it's probably better for big groups. Irish oak and Goose Island are ok for some drinks. Also, most places in wrigleyville have no cover.

Lincoln Park is a trendier type of area, but plenty of low key places as well.

I agree that rush&division area is more for touristy crowds - I'd probably skip it.

Just pick a neighborhood and barhop.

Eat at Giordanos!!!!
