NL50 draw improves on turn, fire another barrel?

Villain is 22/10/2.4 oder 40 hands. I was so happy my draw improved that I decided to bet the turn. Should I rather take the free card? I guess betting the turn would be better if I had an ace in my hand so when he checks again on the river I can check behind and actually win against his missed draws.
