Yeah So i leave for training for USAF special forces (pararescue hooyah) in 5 days and So i decide to play some minbet hold em at the local 10 table poker room. Its 4-8 so of course Im losing to fishies but man havent had this much fun in a long time.

Old man sits down at our table with a maroon beret (same color as Pararescue guys), so after he proceeds to suckout on the whole table every hand he plays 7T rivering straight to middle set, j9 rivering gutshot straight after flop come AT7 vs AA and 77 (poor AA guy was playing nice solid poker and just getting runner runnered over and over again felt bad for the guy). Im of course playing too loose but shoot its only 200 bucks. So i ask the OLD guy, "excuse me sir, but did you wear that beret while you served", after i repeat it again because he is old and cant hear he replies, me oh no I wear this beret because Im in chemotherapy, and of course the rock asian lady who is sitting next to me who had been commenting on his horrible play remarks quietly "oh so thats why he play everything, the money not matter" and i announce loudly to the table, "really, well you d never know it by the way you play poker" in my most honest and trying not to be douchey tone, and as he had not sucked out on me in any hand that he knew about it I think he wasnt offended since I had tried to be polite the entire time about it and he continued to play his uber check call bet when make nuts on river style. I left shortly after, since this solid 7 girl i met at the table invited me to another casino for a midnight NL turny and thanked the table blah blah but still man did i feel like an audible [censored] after finding out the guy had cancer

this is definitely one of those, "you had to be there" stories, im sure it was really interesting while you were there, but this seems really uninteresting from a spectator perspective
