ilikeaces,

Something like that. But you can't just take a current stock price adjust for splits and compare it to BRK.

So why Isn't everyone buy the stock? It is one of the most consistent returners out there.

[/ QUOTE ]maybe it's overvalued? Just b/c berkshire hathaway makes money, doesn't mean buying berk hath stock is +EV

[/ QUOTE ]
yes, it does.

though you are probably +EV to mean maxEV, which this forum seems set on being interchangeable, in which case then you are right.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a absurd, drunk or ignorant response. If BRK traded at $10mm per share, you're saying it's +EV to buy if they are profitable? LOLOLOLOL.

If you can play 0.001/0.002 nl or 1/2nl, and you don't suck at poker, both are +EV, DUCY

So if BRK is valued at 10mm and the business makes $1 per year in profit. is it +EV to buy this investment?

If you don't see what he's getting at, you shouldn't be picking stocks.

All,

People on this board commonly don't understand the difference between +EV and optimal EV. I've tried to discuss this on the sports betting board, but it seems to take little effect. Same thing is happening here. I'm loathing when someone is going to say something as idiotic as "Well what about inflation".

Someone agrees to let you pick an envelope from him. He has 100. All are labeled with dollar amounts from 1-100. Assuming you pick an envelope, it is +EV. Picking the one labeled 100 is optimal EV. Is this really that [censored] hard?

the way i look at things is if you know which envelope has $100 in it and you pick another envelope it is -EV.
