I think most people thought Marty was a good coach, but he always seemed to screw up big games.

[/ QUOTE ]

At least he got to the big games.

[/ QUOTE ]

They should have kept Marty and then fire him right before the playoffs.

Not winning the big games is really, really overrated imo. Manning couldn't win the big game before and now he's done it. Just give it time. Firing him was obv a huge mistake, but hiring Norv is an even worse mistake. Firing him that late was about the bigggest mistake they made as they have no selection left at that point and they're basically [censored].

Marty's record was what 1-9 in the postseason. Of all those, I wonder how many times he lost to a worse seed and how many times he lost to a better seed. But, inability to win big games in terms of coaching is really stupid (atleast imo) cause as a coach, all you're doing is gameplanning, just like you'd to in the regular season, so nothing changes that much. Obv intensity, and magnitude change but that changes in the minds of the players and not of the coach as his job stays the same, but the players are the ones who are performing differently.

Well, he was the higher seed in a lot of cases, which is a major reason for his reputation. Of course the same was true for Bill Cowher & Billy Donvovan not long ago.

This I agree with 100%. Even if you're one who believes strongly in "choking", I've never thought it made a ton of sense from a coaching standpoint. A lot of his teams particularly in KC just overachieved in the reg. season and didn't have the "extra gear" that other teams have in the postseason.

meh.. the reputation is somewhat earned, but sample size is certainly an issue. And it's not like his CB trying to return the interception in the AFC semis was his fault. It was terribly reactionary.

[/ QUOTE ]

And the idiot CB head-butting the opponent after a stop on 3rd down. Urgh. That's the worst one.
