His "discussion" posts in sports were generally nothing of any value. Anyone of us with a lot of free time could pepper the site with posts like "who's the best left-handed right-fielder you ever saw" or "who was the worst NHL coach to suffer from goiter" and nonsense like that.

There are plenty of very good, smart posters who can come up with good topics in this vein, if that's the stuff the forum wants or likes to discuss.

You win. I did a quick rundown of recent threads started and a lot of them are pretty terrible. Not all, but a lot. Still, he started a couple of good ones and I think it's stupid to ruin THOSE by piling on.

Also, I saw a thread started by you and I guess I didn't realize you ever post in Sports. [img]/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

Blackjack's sports-forum threads were actually much more interesting topics than that.

I don't like the guy so I'm not defending his other actions. He probably deserves to be banned for his combination of stuff and inability to 'play well with others' so much of the time... and then ending with apparently a really offensive picture when he already should have known he was kind of on a short leash.


But it wasn't just a couple of his threads out of 23 or whatever that were at least somewhat interesting. Way more than that.

He was definitely going over-board starting one thread after another in there.
But many of them did lead to some very interesting discussions.
And he also had some good sports stories of his own to share in some of those threads.


Admittedly, not all of his thread-starters were great. Some of them definitely sucked.
But his quality posts in there was definitely more than just 2 or 3.

Again, I don't like the guy and don't mind at all that he's banned.
Just discussing the side-topic of the quality of his sports-forum posts.

well, he stopped posting absolutely terrible things in the sports forum and i noticed there wasn't as much hatred towards him lately...that being said, this was prolly a combination of a lot of things and i can't really argue with this ban...

more evidence that he had some posts in there that were actually pretty decent...and several more that at least weren't completely sucky or offensive.

But I agree that it's hard to argue with a ban based on some of his other behaviour (MH, note my usage of the Brit spelling).
