Anyone up for lighting themselves on fire on the capital steps?

Nah, that might be counterproductive in this case.

It seems the future for American online poker players lies in the hands of states like Nevada. Pushing to regulate the industry and tax it. This is a few years down the road, but they are pushing to study the issue now.

So, if you are going to throw your support at something, I would go that route. You won't see short term results, but it may be the best thing in the long run.

You're forgetting the democrats' overwhelming desire to undo everything the GOP has gotten away with since 1994.

Yes, I'm sure that politically, they are all looking forward to jacking taxes and revoking the Patriot Act, too.

Being pro gambling doesn't really seem likely to have much to offer politicians who aren't from Nevada. For better or worse, many people still view it as a moral issue.

Unfortunately, it's our best hope now for a *healthy* poker market online.

In the short-term, our best hope is that poker isn't completely killed for Americans 6 months from now. As in, there are still enough reasonable funding methods available for fish to get some money in, and keep the games at least marginally profitable.

I really wish I was a good cash game player. With the rake difference, I could obviously make far more money. Unfortunately, I'm not. I'm a SNG specialist. At one point on Party, I would have put myself in the top 2% on the lower buy-in levels. At Stars, I'm guessing that I'm top 15%, if that. Oh well.

as ive said, i dont think this is a *major* issue for people who are willing to look for another, reasonably simple means to deposit/withdraw money, but the large % of people that will not take these steps are the same players that we want sitting in our games...

Here's the list of options from Stars.

Currently, real money deposits into your poker account are accepted in several ways shown below. Please click on the corresponding option for more details.

* eChecks - Minimum deposit only $25 (available to US and Canadian players only) This is gone.
* NETeller - (we are no longer processing deposits and cashouts from US players via Neteller )
* FirePay (we are no longer processing deposits and cashouts via Firepay)
* CentralCoin This is gone.
* VISA / VISA Delta / VISA Electron / Gift and Prepaid VISA - Deposit in USD, CAD, EUR, GBP, SEK, NOK, DKK, AUD
* MasterCard / Gift and Prepaid MasterCard - Deposit in USD, CAD, EUR, GBP, SEK, NOK, DKK, AUD Guess I'll have to try this again. My initial deposit was on a credit card, but I'd been under the impression that that generally didn't work.
* ePassporte The big hope? Don't know much about it, but it sounds like it has stiff fees and small deposit limits.
* Diners Club International Telly Savalas would be proud.
* Cashier's Check / Money Order / Bank Draft - Minimum deposit only $100 So this would appear to be it. Seems likely to be slow.

This seems like more than a minor pain in the ass.
