Default Biggest college admissions luckbox?

All these college admissions questions brought back memories. I dropped out of high school and joined the Navy at 17 (over 20 years ago). Just before my hitch was up, I was applying to colleges and my best friend obviously had his feelings hurt that I wasn't applying to his alma mater. So I applied (knowing I had no chance) just to make him happy. After getting rejection letters from some schools that admit 70-80% of applicants, I was shocked when the school I had no shot at sent me a big envelope with the words "The Next Four Years of Your Life" printed on the outside.

I was not a legacy, nor an athlete, nor famous. I was only 21 when I applied (so age wasn't much of a factor). Yet I still got into Northwestern University with a GED.
Anyone top that?
