I got it after the fifth clue FWIW, not that that's relevant at all. I just "saw it" after that clue.

so it's something about the individual clues, rather than the sequence of clues, say, a word spelt out of the firt letters of each phrase?

The order doesn't matter, but, if you put them in a specific order, it might make the puzzle easier for you.
