Default 2-20 Spread Limit - flopped K high Flush

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum so please excuse any poor setup to my question. I am curious to see if I played my hand in this situation too fast.

2-20 Spread Limit Hold 'em, Desert Diamond Casino, Tuscon AZ
I've been at the table for about 75-80 hands with a tight/agressive table image - I've show down AA, KK and one nut flush - I've taken down a few hands uncontested with good position play.

Hero is in BB w/ K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

One early position limper, cutoff, button and small blind all limp ($10 in the pot)

Flop: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Small blind check, hero bets $7 (pot size =$17)

Early position calls ($24), folded to button who raises $10 ($41) small blind folds, action to our hero

I've played several hours with the button and have him on a flush - most likly 9-T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. The other caller just joined the table and had played the last five pots in a row. I am scared of a naked A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and want to make sure that if the early position player has the A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], he has to pay to draw to it so I raise the maximum $20. The pot is now $71. The early position player folds and the button goes into the tank finally mucking just what I had put him on 9-T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Did I play this too aggresivly? Should I just smooth call the button raise and make a play on the turn? I feel like I missed out on a large pot in this situation.

Thoughts? Thanks for any insight.

Maybe you could have gotten a large pot, but let's file this information for later.

Next week, in fact, you get a freeplay with A3o, including the Ace of diamonds.

The flop comes, J 3 2 all pointy and red.

You bet 7, EP calls, the button raises 10, and you make it 20. Everyone folds, and the button shows T9 of diamonds again. So, how you feel about it now?

So then where does spread limit go? I think it goes here, because it plays more like limit than NL.

sorry, misread post.

i think you played this fine, and the person with 9T of diamonds made a weak/tight/bad fold IMO. file him under "people I can bully out of pots easily"

Thanks for the insight,

The player with 9T diamonds plays the game every day and likes to do the bullying but has a hard time when he gets played back at with anything less then the nuts. He did tell me that there were lots of players at the table who he wouldve called down, just not me - makes me feel like I'm losing action with my image.

Hopefully I will have an oppertunity to use my image to my advantage sometime soon...

I play 2-10 a fair amount and I think you played it just as you should. Don't worry about "if" you could of made the pot bigger, what "if" the early caller did have the Ace and fourth Diamond did come out? Limit your loses and manage your chips.

how tight do you play live usually? waiting for AA/KK/AK is always a bad idea in terms of image/profit

In the 2-20 game I play pretty tight. The game usually isn't up and running when I get to the casino and I often sit at 3/6 and play much looser especially when there are 2-3 players at the table waiting for the 2-20. I seem to get more action at the 2-20 table after hitting an inside straight at 3/6.

Needless to say, I don't wait around for Aces and Kings but I'll also toss JTo or KQo under the gun without hesitation in the 2-20 game.

To give your self a "loser image" try rasing with poor hand once in awhile. Like JTs, pocket 8's ect. take to the end once or twice just to show your not just a rock.
