A couple of Norton Internet Security questions

I've got a couple of questions concerning content either linked from 2p2 or actual threads on the forums.

i) Some pages containing pictures (not those kinds of pictures) that were linked in LOL don't display the pictures when the page opens.

ii) When threads get very long, there is no content displayed - there's just the 2+2 Forums header.

In both of these cases, when I turn NIS off, either the page with pictures displays, or all of the posts display. Does anyone know what the specific configuration issue is here? Any help (aside from, "don't buy NIS") is appreciated!

We have struggled with the Norton Security Suite product line in our developement as well. Trust me when I say at times it appears to have no rhyme nor reason when it makes a blocking decision. I will ask my main programmer what progress if any he made on this particular issue and will help with the configuration settins if able. I can't make any promises because I know it is still giving us headaches in house.

You may not want to hear this. But, this is the answer. Really, get rid of it. There are many posts about securing your computer with free and better software. I believe the FAQ now has it as well.

Dave is right. When I get a customer's computer in my hands most often is is "infected" with Norton or Mcafee and there are so many pop-ups, warnings, reminders, and blah, blah, blah, I don't know how people use their computers. Good freaking grief, take a clue from the likes of AVG and Zone Alarm...install and forget. AVG pops up and auto updates in about 15 seconds and disappears. That is how a security application is supposed to work.

Sorry for the rant but Norton has become a pet peeve of mine.

Agree. I am really not one of these people who goes around bashing companies or getting into the "Ford/Chevy" type debates. If it works for you, great. However, as someone who spends 12+ hrs a day on a computer and gets paid to fix people's computers, I can't stand Norton and the way it operates. Also, you will find very few people in the tech world who sing Norton or McAfee's praises, and it is simple to see why. You can get better products, with MUCH less intrusion and hassle cheaper and often even free.

hate to jump on the bandwagon OP, but norton uses too many system resources in order to be "effective", which isn't even that good...that being said, you should try for a combo of programs which aren't as intensive and run smooth anyway...

there have been a couple of threads on this...but a combo of sygate/outpost with avg/nod32 is pretty good for firewall/virus protection...hope this helps OP...

I haven't gotten to the point that I *won't* work on a norton/mccrappy box (like I refeuse to work on AOL boxes)...but it's reeeeeeeeeeeeal close.
